Stanley and Gilbert Mclelland both love swimming but ultimately love football and cricket. They were inspired recently by a trustee on the Sports Development Trust and wanted to help raise money for ‘their future’. They understand that Sports helps children develop emotionally, academically and socially and as they use the recreation field weekly they are super keen to see it develop with the addition of an all weather pitch for them to play their different sports on.
They wanted to do something very different and decided on an open water swim! With the help of an experienced open water swimmer they have arranged to swim at Foxlake, near Dunbar, where it’s quite safe for what will be their first ever open water swim.
After announcing their intention, a further seven children have taken up the challenge and hence there will be a total of 9 children participating in this event:
Stanley & Gilbert Mclelland
Lucy Mitchell
Hannah and Keira Mcluskey
Beth Poole
Calumn & Skye Sievewright
Freya Walker
Their aim will be to each swim 1 mile in open water (very different to their normal swims at North Berwick Sports Centre), which will entail six laps of the 300m lake.
Please show them your support by sponsoring them, and come and cheer them on from 7pm on Tuesday 1st July.
